A fundraiser event for the NICU at Gwinnett Medical Center
June 3, 2015, 10:30 a.m.
Gwinnett Extended Care Center
Many families spend days, weeks and sometimes months in the neonatal intensive care unit. These families often need help with expenses for blankets, diapers and living arrangements during this difficult time. The GECC residents will shoot hoops to raise money for the families of GMC’s NICU. Each resident will have five chances to toss miniature basketballs into freestanding nets. To join in the fundraiser, you can sponsor a resident participating in the event. Donate one dollar for every basket a resident makes. To sponsor or make a donation, contact Rita Davis or Joann Kames at 678-312-3098 in the GECC Activity Department.

Gwinnett Extended Care Center's lovely central courtyard, which is accessible to residents and their visitors, got a bit of a "green-up" this spring. With help from community members, staff and residents, the courtyard now can boast of a fig tree, seasonal flowers, renewed pine-bark planting beds and more. And many of the plants were donations from community members' own yards! Thanks to all who participated. We'll enjoy your work throughout the year!

US News & World Report has listed GECC as one of the best nursing homes in the nation for 2013j! We received an overall 5-star rating based on ratings for health inspections, nurse staffing and the quality of medical care.
"It is an honor for GECC to be ranked as a top nursing home by US News and World Report," says Tamey Stith, GECC administrator. "This recognition speaks clearly about the caring and compassionate caregivers that we have on staff at GECC. I applaud their commitment to patient safety, quality care and customer satisfaction. It's always our privilege to serve our community. Residents often refer to GECC as family. That is exactly what we strive for in our care and services."
